Luxury doesn’t happen overnight. Or does it? Last September designer Scott Corridan was tasked with the near impossible; take a completely empty slope-side residence and create a luxurious mountain abode. By Thanksgiving.
Never deterred, Corridan and his associates immediately set to work. The parameters were simple. The client supplied him with three distinct images for inspiration, a liberal budget, and ample freedom to work his magic.

Located at Northstar, the four-bedroom townhouse included a great room, media room, reading nook, and three decks. Aside from cabinetry and fixtures, the home was completely bare. While the residence beckoned for the air of a luxurious retreat, Corridan’s final design radiates energy and youthfulness, traits his clients exuded.
The most dramatic transformation took place with the use of thousands of feet of hemlock siding. During the basic installation there were dozens of people coming and going. Corridan and his team worked seamlessly with local Mark Tanner Construction crews and blind, painting, and upholstery professionals to not only meet the client’s deadline, but stay ahead of what turned out to be Tahoe’s snowiest winter in nearly a decade.

Corridan brought the space to life using light and bright natural tones, as well as lots of layering. “It’s highly detailed and very layered,” he emphasized. “When your inspiration is a 50-year old cabin that’s been in the family for generations, it’s the details that really shine through.”
Corridan made the home magnificent by incorporating a variety of faux fur throws and Mexican blankets on leather and upholstered couches; choosing lamps and chandeliers that had a legacy feel; mixing in pops of color in area rugs, ottomans, and pillows; wildlife artwork and faux antlers, and installing an authentic old-school chairlift.
“Our clients were able to walk in with a fire crackling in the fireplace and a filled pantry. They were over the moon happy.”
