Finding one would be easy. Sitting on the outside deck, all one had to do was look to the sky for the answer. "We saw one star in particular," recalls Realtor Kent J. Symons, "and the owner said that's what this place is-the Sierra Star."
Today, the Sierra Star remains one of the area's most precious lakefront jewels: a 4.25-acre property encompassing a man-made waterfall, an 11,000-square-foot main residence, and two guest houses, each comprising more than 4,300 square feet. As the region's biggest property with the most amenities, says Symons, the Sierra Star speaks for itself.
Its size and spaciousness make for a private location to enjoy the year-round beauty of Lake Tahoe, whether at a corporate conference or a family party. Several bedrooms boast a panoramic view of the lake, and two 10-by-150-foot piers stretch into the water.
The property already has hosted a diverse array of guests, from Hong Kong business clients to motorcycle enthusiasts heading to an annual Reno event, in a space that Symons would best describe as "ultra-comfortable." "You're all just enjoying the beauty of the mountainous atmosphere," says Symons, who has listed this property at $60 million. "It's just an idyllic feeling."
But the feature that has caught the attention of interested buyers from as far away as Romania, Italy and Switzerland is the three-story, 16,000-square-foot carriage house where personal treasures can be displayed with showroom quality, Symons adds. This state-of-the-art facility also contains a 60-foot elevator with the capacity to lift 70,000-pound recreation vehicles. In short, it's "a collector's dream come true," says Symons. "As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing like it in the world," he says. A vacant, .75-acre lot with developable quality also sits within the property, whose security features include a 6-foot-high wrought-iron fence with numerous security cameras situated throughout the grounds.
Five airports, numerous golf courses and seven major ski resorts are within an hour's drive, but Symons says the Sierra Star is all one needs to enjoy the splendor of the Lake Tahoe region. "It's a complete, self-sufficient entity," he says. "You won't want to leave the property."
