Donald Trump takes the top spot with a Palm Beach mansion listed for $125 million.
by Camilla McLaughlin
The name Trump and new heights are synonymous whether it is benchmarks for luxury, vertical buildings or, as is the case of the newest Trump enterprise, the price of luxury. Priced at $125 million, this Palm Beach estate at 513 N. County Road, is the most expensive in the country, perhaps even the world. It is a short hop from Mar-a-Lago, a name most residents of Florida's Gold Coast associate with real estate mogul Donald Trump.

A year ago, Trump bought the "House of Friendship" for $41.35 million at a bankruptcy auction. The classic lines of the French Regency mansion, not to mention an unusually large amount of ocean frontage, undoubtedly caught his attention.
Orchestrating the project is Kendra Todd, winner of the third season of NBCÕs "The Apprentice." "This home is so striking and commands an amazing presence," she says, referring to the architecture ("unique for Palm Beach") and prized oceanfront location. The property is listed with Dolly Lenz of Prudential Douglas Elliman.
For more than eight months, a team of 50 to 80 people worked to turn the compound into a pristine designer-ready canvas. The creation of new bedrooms introduces livability into a compound designed for entertaining. There is also a carriage house, pool house and a guest house. The pool house has a loggia, a full kitchen and two bedrooms.
The main section of the home includes a round central salon. Tall arched French doors, topped by demi-lune windows, open to an observatory that encircles the outer perimeter of this room as well as the library and the media room. The two wings of the main house fan out along the lawns with the rear facade facing the Atlantic Ocean making the views the real centerpiece. A 30-by-16-foot interior atrium is a dramatic entry to the south wing and six of the main home's eight bedrooms. A private foyer introduces the master suite consisting of an office, dressing areas and two baths. The spacious bedroom looks directly to the ocean.
The north wing includes the kitchen and, on the east side, a dining room or sunny breakfast room, depending on the owners' proclivities. A wine room with walls lined with Chicago brick leads to a walled outside courtyard and pergola. With a 33,000-square-foot, unfinished lower level, this home offers ample space for a theater as well as a spa or fitness facility, bowling alley-whatever a future homeowner desires. The parcel of land can accommodate additional gardens, tennis courts, even a helipad. A new 40-by-100-foot pool has been installed on the site of the old pool.
The house occupies 7.65 acres of prime Palm Beach real estate in a location dubbed "Billionaire's Row." It spans 475 feet of ocean frontage, which in itself has been estimated to be worth more than the original $41.35 million price.
